  The Fab 5 inquiry theme

Reduce, reuse & recycle inquiry theme

Display shows final product - posters on recycling in the home, water, plastics, and other topics. Peer & teacher evaluation of each piece of research using a rubric followed. The rubric was developed with the class before the research stage so that students knew what they would be assessed on.

  

  

It's about Time inquiry theme

The book ‘The Bad Tempered Ladybird’ by Eric Carle was used as a starting point, for this unit of work. Year 1 students researched & investigated different ways of telling time.The display shows different times on clocks made by the students and their own ladybirds with labels from the story.

Brainstorming & sorting words into key categories for the Fab 5 theme on rules, rights, roles, responsibilities and rewards. Students worked in chosen groups to brainstorm what they knew about one topic e.g. sports, pets, transport, etc.. under the Fab 5

Peer evaluation

Students played each others games to check that rules did work effectively. Rules at home, school, and in the community were also covered.
